Dear Northway Church,
Several weeks ago, Alex Habersham interviewed me for his program, “Call To Action.” Mr. Habersham is the former chairman of the Cherry Blossom Committee and a local leader in helping bring positive change to our community. He heard me speak on the opening night of the Main Street Christmas Lights Extravaganza and was interested in hearing more about Northway Church and what we are doing in our community.
In preparation for that interview, I gathered information on all that we’ve done in 2021 to impact the Middle Georgia area. While I’m sure that there are efforts and initiatives not included in this list, here is a sample of ways that through your giving and volunteering, you’ve helped to share the gospel in our community:
Presenting Sponsor of the Main Street Christmas Lights and individuals working as Block Ambassadors.
“Partner in Education” with Sonny Carter Elementary School, assisting with various programs, providing space for their graduation ceremonies, supporting the faculty with special breakfasts from Cathedral Coffee, and providing school supplies.
Teams working with the Brookdale Warming Center by serving meals, organizing donations of clothing and personal items, leading a weekly worship service, and delivering Christmas gifts.
Providing financial and volunteer support for The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia, Caring Solutions, Out of Darkness Ministries, Storehouse Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, and the Backpack Ministry.
Supporting Project Giving’s Christmas Adoption program, where underprivileged families receive Christmas gifts for their children (see photo below).
Supporting our local Department of Family and Children’s Services by allowing use of our facilities, making donations to foster families, and a number of families in our church serving as foster parents.
Launching Celebrate Recovery, meeting on Monday evenings in our facility and ministering to those struggling with any of life's hurts, habits, and hang ups.
This is certainly not an exhaustive list, and doesn’t include all of the ministry happening each week in worship, in Home Teams, and in our Next Generation ministries, all of which are making a huge impact on so many lives.
And all of these have happened in a year when a pandemic has restricted many of our efforts!
As I look back on 2021, I’m so incredibly thankful to be serving at Northway Church. It is such a blessing to me and my family to partner with you in making a difference in our community.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your pastor, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year!
Blessings,
Kevin
